Our Program Nature driven and outdoor focused Reggio Emilia approach inspired Child led learning Flexible and Open ended Play Based approach
Opens at 7.30 am and closes at 5.30 pm.
Free flowing day with loose structure as follows:
7:30 The centre opens Free play/activity time such as self-help art, play dough, puzzles, blocks, dramatic play, books. They are free to explore, interact and create their own learning experiences with the support and guidance of friends and staff.
8.30-9.30 Morning snack is available and children are given the opportunity to come as they choose throughout the morning.
9.30-11.30 As children naturally wind up their play and finish activities, we gradually clean up, use the washroom and transition to outside. We embark on neighbourhood walks, visit local playgrounds, or spend time in our own outside play environment, with sand/water play, gardening, building with loose parts and materials and much more.
11.30-12.30 Lunch time is a community event with peers, and we serve fresh veggies alongside the children's own lunch. Lunch is followed by transition to quiet time, involving visit to the washroom and teeth brushing before a quiet self-directed reading time and nap.
2.00 The children are quietly woken and they assist in putting away any quiet rest time activities if they did not sleep, and they slowly head to the wash room.
The afternoon is filled with open-ended art and exploratory play, with a mid afternoon snack being served as the children request and need.
3.30-5.30 A gradual transition occurs to outside play on our deck, and in the colder months they are brought back in at around 5.00 for table activities and books until picked up.
5.30 The centre closes
Our children also enjoy as a special addition to our regular routines:
Every Tuesday morning children are led in a small group, yoga session with one of our ECE'S to practice self regulation alongside strengthening and stretching exercises.
We also have a regular inclusive music circle with instruments, songs, movement and games. The children are introduced to and develop concepts such as rhythm and beat, memory skills, balance and spacial awareness while participating in a fun, upbeat circle time!
Every other Friday, we have a Forest Friday program. This involves taking the children to local forested areas or sandy beaches to explore the natural beauty around us here in Victoria. We take the bus first thing and enjoy free exploratory adventures followed by our packed picnic lunches in the wilderness. We develop our responsibility as stewards of the earth and enjoy taking our natural curiosity outside the classroom to our surrounding areas.
